Organizations like Texas Monthly have seen a tremendous rate of return 17% higher than average by having their content on read-it-later apps like Pocket. Since the popularity of read-it-later apps has exploded, more publishers and content creators have taken note and have begun adjusting their publishing strategies to fit this new market. How marketers can keep up with this trend It gives teams, collaborators, or groups the chance to actively search for great content on various topics and work on it collectively and efficiently while still offering each individual the convenience of accessing the content at their leisure. Many tools used to manage content in the workplace need to be functional to allow readers to search, browse, save, and share content. The use of read-it-later apps also stretches far beyond the use case of personal content consumption. dark, and save content on one device and seamlessly access it. In addition, users of these apps are looking to customize their mode of reading, like light mode vs. Read-it-later apps empower users to save articles with a single click, organize those articles and access them whenever, wherever. Readers no longer sort through their unorganized bookmarks for the content they want to consume later. Many readers find read-it-later apps like Instapaper and Pocket very useful because they can digest self-curated content from various sources at their leisure on a single app. These exact requirements have given rise to what is known as Read-it later apps. Yet, these readers also want the content to be convenient, diverse, and easily accessible. With the new generation of readers as technologically savvy as they are, their thirst for great content is insatiable. The unfortunate result is that some of the most well-created pieces of content have been left unread or forgotten. While a new article, buzzword, or idea might have landed on the attention of the right reader, there has been a historical disconnect: timing. That also means that the attention of readers is moving just as quickly. Every day more content is being created almost faster than the speed of light. I want to send saved articles to my Kindle every time I save one and not periodically, but couldn't find a way to do that.In today’s digital age, content is “Always On.” That means there is always something to be read, thought, or spoken. So I thought I'd ask here as there are probably some guys around here who already use that idea or have a different approach to doing that. Since there are a plethora of recipes for that purpose on IFTTT already I thought perhaps I am doing something wrong, because all of them essentially work the same way as mine from what I understand. So the only thing I get to see on my Kindle is the redirection page. Unfortunately Pocket and Instapaper don't use the direct URL for that but only redirect to it. At first that seems really easy by using the article URL as attachment. The Problem with that is that the Kindle email service only works with attachments, so I would have to attach the article. The way I was trying it until now was by using IFTTT to send every new article to my Kindle email through my regular email account. But that is not what I want since I don't have a daily routine to read my articles but rather do that spontaneously. I searched the internet and found several ways to do it for some articles on a specified interval. Alternatively I wouldn't mind switching to Instapaper for that purpose. Now I'm trying to get all my articles from there onto my PW automatically, but still keep them in my in my Pocket in case I want to read them elsewhere. I am currently using Pocket for saving articles that I want to read. So I just got my first eReading device: the Paperwhite 3.

I canceled my pre-order and I’m waiting to see if it gets any significant updates before I consider buying it.Porting a program to another system is seldom an easy task. We just don’t need the big theatrics and the bickering over what is just another mediocre remaster. It sucks and we deserve better, but you could say that about a lot of things during this pandemic. This isn’t an excuse for the quality of the remaster. Blind Squirrel tried to clean up the mess as best they could, but it wasn’t good enough. That’s probably why Sonic Colors Ultimate is this weird mishmash of original game code + an implementation of Godot bolted on over the top of it. However, apparently, in early fall 2020, a performance evaluation revealed the game was in no state to release thanks to covid guidelines gumming up the development, and apparently Blind Squirrel was brought in to rescue the project. I was first informed that Sega was prepping a Sonic Colors remake/remaster in 2019, and it seems like the originally targeted release date was Christmas 2020. But you don’t have to go full Skeletor.īased on what I’ve heard, from people I know and from what other rumors have said that seems to line up, it sounds like Sonic Colors Ultimate was a victim of covid-19. Sure, there was the hope that things would get fixed before release, but that’s all it should have been: hope. I mean, we knew going in to this that the port looked a little funky, based on videos Sega was putting out that featured clearly broken effects. AND it still ran like unoptimized garbage, too! It took Capcom another 4-5 years to put out the “Ultimate Edition” port we have today.Īll of these ultra-dramatic Sonic fans out there like “SEGA WILL PAY THE PRICE FOR HAVING CROSSED US THIS DAY” are like… yeah, it sucks that the port could be better, and we did not deserve to have it be this bad, but could you tone it down just a little? The game originally shipped with a complete lack of any lighting whatsoever! It was also a port of the PS2 version, so the textures were visibly worse than the original Gamecube and Wii versions. Or what about the original 2007 PC port of Resident Evil 4? That looked like this: I mean, Gearbox’s original PC version of Halo was a complete mess of arbitrarily changed effects, and only now, 13 years later, did The Master Chief Collection finally fix that broken port. Sonic Colors and Stranger’s Wrath still aren’t the only examples of this. Finally, something like three or four years later, after they’d already wrung everything out of the Oddworld franchise everywhere else, they went back released an updated version of Stranger’s Wrath for the PC that looked and played correctly. They started porting Munch’s Odyssey to other platforms, as well. They made announcements for other Oddworld games. The PC version remained in the same broken state. Playstation 3, Vita, Xbox 360, I think even Wii U. Just Add Water, perhaps realizing the growing number of scorned users, vowed that they would improve the PC port “soon.” In the mean time, they ported Stranger’s Wrath to every other platform under the sun. What a great favor they had done for us bringing Stranger’s Wrath to PC where only the top 25% of their install base could run the game acceptably at low settings. At a resolution of 600p no less, when we were approaching the dawn of 4K games on PC. 30fps for a six year old Xbox game on a ~$700 PC build. The developer’s response was to make fun of people for having weak PCs, while revealing that “the game usually averaged 30fps at a resolution of 800圆00” on their test machine, which was a somewhat high end system for the time. There were a lot of posts from hopeful fans complaining about it being broken on their machine (I was one of them). Tons of effects were broken and it barely ran, especially if you were unlucky enough to have a Radeon GPU.Īt the time, there was a thread on the NeoGAF forum (years before it imploded) and developers from Just Add Water were posting in it, seeing how people liked the port. They released the remaster on PC first, a straight-across port from the Xbox hardware, and it was a technical disaster. The game was essentially left to rot on the Xbox.īut Stranger’s Wrath was a critical darling, people loved that game, so the idea that finally, FINALLY, it would be getting proper PC and modern console releases was a big deal. This was important, because Stranger was an Original Xbox exclusive, came out at the tail end of the console’s life span, and was a commercial failure. I’ve told this story before, but it’s the one that sticks out the most in my head:īack in 2011 or 2012, a company called “Just Add Water” announced they were going to remaster Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. Sonic Colors Ultimate was not the first, and will not be the last. One, bad ports and remasters like this happen a lot. I don’t get the white-knuckle outrage people have about it. The full collaboration software paper is available as a free download from the Mikogo website. "As providers of collaboration software, we must not only develop intuitive products, but also ensure that businesses clearly communicate the benefits to their co-workers to get their buy-in." "Very often businesses purchase online collaboration software, however, they miss to define and implement clear processes as to when and for what purpose to use it," explains Erik Boos, Co-Founder of Mikogo. However when users understand the tool's purpose and how to best use it, they will be more likely to embrace it, thus improving the company's productivity and return on investment. There will always be individuals who opt to stay with the status quo, as they fail to understand the trade-offs and requirements. Companies can make the most of their collaboration software by rolling it out across the board, rather than using it exclusively for the core team. One of the biggest and commonly discussed challenges is that of training and awareness. Additionally, we will see the development of further collaboration tools focused on specific business use cases and niches, rather than only generic products. While people are more willing to spend money on tools and while it is becoming a natural extension of the toolset, they are less inclined to invest time in training, which means that developers must focus on creating intuitive software. Several common trends were identified pinpointing the keys to success for development of collaboration software and adoption by businesses. In their interviews with 15 top collaboration software thought leaders, Mikogo asked about the market trends we will see in 2015, the benefits for businesses adopting collaboration software, challenges companies face in doing so, and how businesses can utilize it to its greatest potential. Companies responsible for this transformation and whose leaders were interviewed for this paper include Wrike, Trello, Quip, DocuSign, MindMeister, Smartsheet, NetDocuments, Mikogo, Samepage, eXo Platform, Projectplace, HighQ, ProofHub, Time Doctor, and Brightpod. Companies of all sizes use collaboration software on a daily basis and the industry, which is expected to be worth $5.9 billion by the end of 2018, has transformed how businesses operate today. The leaders of 15 established collaboration software companies were interviewed on their predictions for the industry in 2015, and found that collaboration software can expect interesting challenges, trends and developments in the year ahead.Ĭollaboration software is becoming ever more popular as it allows businesses to streamline their processes, manage projects better, and boost productivity. It supports just about any file you can think of. Vox has some of the best designs I’ve ever seen. So.here are reasons why you should use Vox: Here are reasons why you should use Vox if you have a Mac. This year, Vox had a major update, and the new interface and features are shockingly awesome. I hereby introduce Vox! Vox is a fairly new music player, created around 2012 or 2013. After about 5 years of searching, I think I concluded on a “perfect music player” for Mac. I’ve used Macs for about 5 years now(13in Macbook Pro, 11in Macbook Air, and now a 13in Macbook Air). There certainly are other softwares for music playback, but all of them were heavy and laggy, not to mention the cost and the not so user-friendly UI. I always found this ironic, as iTunes lacks audiophile features that other Windows OS players(ex.foobar2000) had. WHEN = 'Document Date (most recent first) and Number' THEN .There are lots of audiophiles using Macs. WHEN = 'Customer and Document Number (highest number first)' THEN InvoiceNumber WHEN = 'Customer and Document Date (most recent date first)' THENĬONVERT(char(4), YEAR(InvoiceDate)) + RIGHT('0'+ CONVERT(varchar(2), MONTH(InvoiceDate)), 2) + RIGHT('0'+ CONVERT(varchar(2), DAY(InvoiceDate)), 2) second sorting level: InvoiceDate descending or InvoiceNumber descending WHEN = 'Document Number (lowest number first)' THEN InvoiceNumber WHEN = 'Customer and Document Date (most recent date first)' OR = 'Customer and Document Number (highest number first)' first sorting level: Customer in ascending alphabetical order or Invoice number in ascending number (InvoiceNumber must be the same type as the customer name) or a constant value 'x' to ignore the first level here fabricate the three sorting levels SELECT InvoiceNumber, InvoiceDate, CustomerName, InvoiceStatus, InvoiceAmount, Currency, isCreditNote. The T-SQL statement for the invoice list of the multi-select parameter was something like: Make sure that the order of the parameters in the report is (1) and (2) the invoice list parameter. This required a first dataset holding the various sorting choices to feed a sorting selection parameter The value of the parameter chosen by the user is then used in the sorting of the second dataset providing the list of invoices shown in the multi-select parameter. sort by invoice number desc (note that the invoice date even with the time portion does not necessarily corresponds to highest/lowest invoice number) sort by customer name and invoice date (ascending) sort by customer name and invoice date (descending) The invoice list in the drop-down window of the multi-valued parameter was to be sorted by any of these criteria: Good tip ! Using SSRS for more than a year, I never noticed that option of interactive sorting.Ī more complicated sorting requirement had to be addressed for a set of invoices, more specifically the list of available invoices in a multi-select parameter. Resorting data on the client after having sorted on database server is one of the many new SQL smells I expect MS SQL tips to ask people to stop, not to recommend. This is a good way to make a slow report return data even slower and slow down data access on the server also. NET best practice and instruction about datasets I have ever read. This has been in online help and best practices information since SSRS was in beta. You should never sort a Dataset for a SSRS report (or anything else) in the select statement for the report.Īlways sort your data at the report level so it can be sorted as needed at the client. I would not be typing this if removing the Order By in the dataset ADHOC select statement AND THEN adding the interactive sort to the report was mentioned. Thanks for educating the community snd sppreciate your volunteership. I wish you shoud publish on doing an interactive sorting on another option i.e. It's very simple Tip but writing an article like this needs lots of patience and effort. I enjoyed reading this article/Tip and recommend others to read and implement. You might have read the tip Ganesh clearly said If Sort is made and the DataSet how it behaves and if it not sorted on DataSet how it differently behaves.Īny how teaching others and helping others should be our motive. Please note I am not defending Ganesh but he just explained clearly about this tip and also he is not recommending. Say if user asks provide me interactive sorting on table having millions of recs that is not right.Īs a developer we have to convince the customer with Pros and Cons of Sorting. I carried all the steps and it didn't work.īut one should know when to apply and for what report to be applied. Type ! (one exclamation point) to add P3, type !! ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER'S 'THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA' RELEASES NEW 2022 LONDON CAST RECORDING OF 'THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA' TITLE TRACK FEATURING KILLIAN DONNELLY AND LUCY ST. This release comes as THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is set to be part of the BBC's Platinum Party at the Palace celebrations on June 4th. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history. Andrew Lloyd Webber's romantic, haunting and soaring score includes "Music of the Night," "All I Ask of You," "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," "Masquerade" and the iconic title song. It tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as 'The Phantom' who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerised by the talents and beauty of a young soprano – Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine's love for Raoul, the Phantom's obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness and passions collide. Killian Donnelly was most recently seen as 'The Phantom' in the UK tour of "The Phantom of the Opera." Before this he played the role of 'Jean Valjean' to critical acclaim in the sell-out UK and Ireland Tour of "Les Misérables," having also played the role in West End production. Prior to his run in "Les Misérables," he played the role of 'Charlie Price' in "Kinky Boots" on Broadway, a role he originated at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End in 2015, for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award. His other theatre credits include 'Huey' in the original London cast of " Memphis" at the Shaftesbury Theatre for which he was also nominated for an Olivier Award. He created the role of 'Deco' in "The Commitments" at the Palace Theatre and has also played 'Tony' in " Billy Elliot" at the Victoria Palace Theatre as well as 'Raoul' in "The Phantom of the Opera" at Her Majesty's Theatre. He first joined the company of "Les Misérables" in 2008, going on to play the role of 'Enjolras' from 2009 to 2011. |
